Liner Note

The first album by an exciting new singer:

Miss Sue Raney is a remarkable young lady. Still in her teens, she sings with the sensitivity, warmth and understanding of one far beyond her years. The very quality of the girl's voice also stamps her as completely different from other teen-age vocalists. It is full, rich even throaty — yet perfectly poised.

Native talent is probably most responsible for Sue's astonishing success. Born in McPherson, Kansas, she began singing at the age of four, and at eight had already become a professional vocalist. Later, as a just-teen-ager, she had her own TV show in Albuquerque, New Mexico. In 1956, she was brought to Hollywood to appear on the Jack Carson show; this led to an appearance on Ray Anthony's TV program, and to a three-month stint at the Hollywood Palladium. While appearing there she was signed to an exclusive Capitol contract.

As an indication of their faith in Sue's impressive talents, Capitol assigned no less than Nelson Riddle — who accompanies such top stars as Frank Sinatra and Nat 'King' Cole — to arrange and conduct the music for this, her first album. Years from now, it may well become — like an early Sinatra or Garland — a collector's item.

"When Your Lover Has Gone" is that kind of thing.
